Five Mistakes Every New Salesforce Tester Makes (I made all of them)

If you're new to Salesforce testing, congratulations:
You’re about to learn the rules of a game that looks simple — until you start playing.

Here are five mistakes every beginner makes (and that I absolutely made myself).

1. Testing as Admin

Classic.
Everything works.
Then it doesn’t.
You learn the hard way.

2. Trusting Field Labels

If a field looks required, editable, visible…
It might not actually be.

Salesforce UI is a master of illusions.

3. Ignoring Record Ownership

New testers assume:

“If I can see the record, everyone can.”

Nope.

Sharing rules are the silent killers of business processes.

4. Believing That Automation Runs the Same for Everyone

Process Builder runs in system mode.
Apex does not.
Flows do whatever they feel like depending on settings.

Beginners get confused.
Experts get cautious.

5. Not Asking “Why?”

The fastest way to test badly is to test without understanding the business outcome.

Testing isn't clicking.
Testing is verifying that the business process still makes sense.

Final Thoughts

Everyone makes these mistakes.
What matters is learning fast — because Salesforce will punish you for repeating them.
